New Applicants*:
- String players choose to audition in the Preliminary Round
at the preparatory or advanced level. The
applicant should, with the aid of his or her private teacher,
review the audition requirements to determine at which level
to audition.
- Due to scheduling, wind players advance to the Final Round
with the exception of flutes, oboes, and clarinets, who must take the
Preliminary Round audition.
* Musicians who are not currently members
are considered new applicants.
Current AYPO Members:
Members of the String Ensemble and Concert Orchestra may:
- Proceed automatically to the Final Rround
at the preparatory level OR. . .
- Take
the Preliminary Round audition at the advanced level.
Note: If after taking the Preliminary Round audition at the advanced level
the musician does not qualify,
he or she will have the opportunity to take the Final Round audition at the preparatory level. This applies to current members only.
Members of the Symphonic Orchestra and American Youth
Philharmonic: proceed automatically to the Final
Round at the advanced level.
