Flute Ensemble

Under the direction of Laura Kaufman, the Flute Ensemble rehearses weekly on Mondays at Kilmer Middle School (8100 Wolftrap Rd, Vienna, VA 22182) and performs several times a season. Its repertoire includes arrangements for flute ensemble as well as original works. Flute Ensemble will begin in September 2018, and is open both to current AYPO members and non-members.

How to apply


For musicians who plan to audition for AYCO, AYSO, or AYP, indicate your interest while filling out your general audition application. A separate audition for Flute Ensemble is not needed. Musicians should follow the audition requirements for the regular full orchestras here
 

Just interested in Flute Ensemble?

1) Please fill out the flute ensemble audition application and submit $45 application fee by May 1st, 2018. Auditions for flute ensemble will take place during regular season auditions (see audition schedule at Audition Information).

2) For your audition, please prepare:

  1. A solo piece. This should be a piece that the applicant feels represents their highest level of playing. It should be 2-5 minutes long and may be a portion of a larger work. Please bring two copies of your music, one for you and one for the judges, with the prepared measures marked. Judges may start and stop the applicant during the audition.
  2. Orchestral excerpts. Please choose one of two excerpts, TBA.

 

Tuition

Non-member tuition: $750
Flute Ensemble tuition is waived for musicians currently in an AYPO ensemble.
