AYPO Marketing

What is your current AYPO ensemble?

Philharmonic (AYP)

What AYPO ensembles have you played in and for how long?

AYDO in 2019-20, AYSE in 2020-22, AYCO in 2022-23, AYSO in 2023-25, AYP in 2025-26

What college/university do you plan on attending this fall?

The University of British Columbia

What do you hope to do after graduation or your more long-term goals?

I hope to explore all that college has to offer, since I have a very diverse field of interests, and we'll see where that takes me!

A favorite, or memorable AYPO experience?

Getting to play Star Wars with bow lights in AYSE! I remember feeling so incredibly cool when we got to walk on stage from the audience sections playing with lightsaber bows :)

What musician, conductor, or orchestra inspires you and why?

I find myself more inspired by pieces than by specific figures in the music world - if I had to choose one, it would be Vaughan-Williams' "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis." I saw it in concert early in high school, and it made me fall in love with music all over again.

Your advice for young musicians?

Keep going! Music has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life, and even though practicing and auditions can be stressful, it's worth it in the end.

Congratulations, Sarah!
